Flash photo filter: add a camera flash after the fact
The Flash look gives a photo the light of a direct on-camera flash: what is near comes out bright, flat and crisp, the room around it falls into a cool dark, and glossy things (a wet street, glass, skin) catch small glints. It works on any photo, with nothing to download.

FlashHow to add a flash to a photo
- Open SingleTone and drop up to 10 photos or videos.
- Choose Flash under Looks. It lights the whole photo at once.
- In Customise, choose where the flash goes and how hard it hits (Flash, 0 to 200%), then export.
Two ways to light it
The whole photo
Works on every photo, with nothing to download: brightest in the middle and low in the frame, falling off toward the edges, with the far background and the sky left in the dark.
Just the person
With a small optional AI model (about 53 MB, downloaded once, run on your device), the flash finds the person and lights only them, while the room behind falls into the dark.
Why it looks like a real flash
A flash fires from the lens, so its light is flat and frontal, and it falls off quickly with distance: that is why flash photos have bright, crisp subjects and dark backgrounds. SingleTone evens out the scene’s own light where the flash lands, holds the ambient a stop or so under in the look’s colour, takes the warm cast of lamps off what the flash lights, and leaves what is out of its reach to the dim ambient.
Questions
Do I need AI for the flash?
No. The flash lights the whole photo without any download. The AI model is only for lighting just the person, and it runs on your device.
Do Disposable and Y2K Digicam have a flash too?
Yes. Both include one, warm in Disposable and cool in Y2K Digicam, with the same two ways to light it.
Can I make the flash stronger?
Yes. Open Customise and move Flash, from 0 to 200%.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser, on your device: the photos are edited and exported where they are, and SingleTone never receives them.
